Our Commitment

Gambling Done Right

At Spribe, we believe that the responsibility to keep gambling safe does not rest with the player alone. As an online gaming platform serving players across Malaysia — from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, Johor Bahru to Shah Alam — we have a genuine duty to provide meaningful safeguards, not just tick compliance boxes.

Gambling is a popular pastime for many Malaysians — whether it is following the EPL on a Saturday night with a few small stakes on a Mix Parlay, or enjoying live casino tables after work. For the vast majority of players, gambling remains exactly that: entertainment. The problem arises when gambling starts to feel compulsive, when losses chase losses, or when it begins affecting daily life, relationships, and finances.

Spribe has built a full suite of responsible gambling tools directly into the platform — accessible to every registered player at no cost, without needing to contact support first. These tools are not obstacles; they are features we actively encourage all players to use as part of a healthy approach to online gaming.

Our Promise: Spribe will never use dark patterns, misleading interfaces, or aggressive re-engagement tactics that pressure players to continue gambling when they have indicated a desire to stop. Player wellbeing takes priority over platform revenue — always.

What Does Responsible Gambling Mean?

Gambling only with money you can afford to lose — treating it as entertainment spending, not an investment or income source.
Setting a budget before you start playing and sticking to it, regardless of whether you are winning or losing at any given moment.
Understanding that all casino games and sports betting outcomes involve an element of chance — no strategy guarantees a profit over time.
Taking regular breaks, setting session time limits, and ensuring gambling does not consume time intended for work, family, or rest.
Recognising early warning signs in your own behaviour — chasing losses, hiding gambling from family, or feeling anxious when not gambling — and seeking help promptly.
Never gambling while under the influence of alcohol, when emotionally distressed, or as a way of escaping problems in other areas of life.

Spribe's Responsible Gambling Tools

Every tool listed below is available to all registered players from within your account settings — no support request needed to activate them.

Deposit Limits

Set a maximum deposit amount per day, per week, or per month in MYR. Once your limit is reached, no further deposits can be made until the limit period resets. Limit reductions take effect immediately; increases require a 7-day cooling-off period before activation.

Available: Daily / Weekly / Monthly limits in RM
Loss Limits

Cap the amount you can lose within a defined period. When your net losses reach the limit you have set, gaming and betting activity is automatically paused until the next limit period begins. This is one of the most effective tools for preventing chasing-losses behaviour.

Available: Daily / Weekly / Monthly limits in RM
Session Time Limits

Set the maximum duration of a single gaming session. When the time limit is reached, you will be automatically logged out and prompted to take a break before returning. Session limits help players maintain awareness of how long they have been playing.

Available: Custom time limits (30 min – 8 hours)
Reality Check Reminders

Opt into periodic on-screen reminders that appear during active gaming sessions, showing you how long you have been playing and the net result of your session to date. These pop-ups prompt you to pause and make a conscious decision about whether to continue.

Available: Every 30, 60, or 90 minutes
Cooling-Off Period

Take a temporary break from the platform by activating a cooling-off period of 1, 3, 7, 14, or 30 days. During this period, your account is locked for gaming and betting activity. Deposits are blocked; existing balances are retained. Cooling-off periods cannot be cancelled early once activated.

Available: 1 / 3 / 7 / 14 / 30 day periods
Self-Exclusion

If you feel that gambling has become a problem, you can permanently self-exclude from the Spribe platform. A self-exclusion request results in immediate account closure with no possibility of reactivation for a minimum of 6 months (with longer durations of 1, 2, or 5 years also available). Any verified balance at the time of exclusion will be refunded to your registered payment method.

⚠ Permanent — cannot be reversed for minimum 6 months
How to Activate These Tools: All responsible gambling tools are accessible from the "Responsible Gambling" section within your Spribe account settings. If you cannot locate them, contact our 24/7 live chat team — agents are trained to assist with responsible gambling requests as a priority and will never try to talk you out of setting limits or self-excluding.

Age Verification & Under-21 Protection

Spribe strictly enforces a minimum age requirement of 21 years for all registered players. This is not a soft recommendation — it is a hard platform rule backed by mandatory identity verification before any withdrawal can be processed.

During the KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process, all players are required to submit a copy of a valid government-issued photo ID — such as a Malaysian MyKad or passport — confirming their date of birth. Any account where age verification cannot be completed, or where documents indicate the holder is under 21, will be permanently closed and any deposited funds returned to the originating payment method.

If you are a parent or guardian concerned that a minor may be accessing gambling websites using a family device, we recommend using parental control tools. Software such as Net Nanny can restrict access to online gambling websites and should be configured on any shared device used by children or young adults under 21.

If you suspect underage gambling: Contact Spribe's support team immediately via live chat. We will act promptly to investigate, close the relevant account, and prevent further access. All reports of suspected underage gambling are treated as priority cases.

Warning Signs of Problem Gambling

Problem gambling rarely develops overnight. Recognising the early signs — in yourself or someone close to you — is the most important first step toward getting help.

01
Chasing Losses
Continuing to bet or increasing your stakes in order to "win back" money you have already lost, rather than accepting the loss and stopping.
02
Gambling With Money You Cannot Afford to Lose
Using money earmarked for rent, groceries, utility bills, or family expenses — or borrowing money specifically to fund gambling activity.
03
Hiding Gambling From Family or Friends
Concealing the frequency, duration, or financial scale of your gambling from people close to you, or feeling the need to lie about it.
04
Feeling Anxious or Irritable When Not Gambling
Experiencing restlessness, irritability, or anxiety when you try to reduce or stop gambling — signs that gambling has moved beyond recreational activity.
05
Failed Attempts to Cut Back
Making repeated, unsuccessful efforts to control, reduce, or stop gambling. Telling yourself "one last session" but repeatedly returning to the platform.
06
Gambling as an Escape
Turning to gambling as a way to escape stress, work pressure, financial worries, loneliness, or relationship problems — rather than as a leisure activity enjoyed in positive circumstances.
07
Preoccupation With Gambling
Spending large amounts of time thinking about gambling — planning upcoming sessions, reliving past wins, or calculating how to recover losses — even when not actively gambling.
08
Neglecting Responsibilities
Gambling interfering with work performance, family commitments, social relationships, or personal health — missing work, neglecting meals, or sacrificing sleep to continue playing.
09
Increasing Stakes Over Time
Needing to bet larger and larger amounts to get the same feeling of excitement — a sign of gambling tolerance developing in a similar way to substance dependence.
If you recognise any of the above signs in yourself or someone close to you: Please reach out for help immediately using the support resources listed on this page. Early intervention significantly improves outcomes. You are not alone, and help is available in Malaysia right now.

Protecting Young People

Spribe takes the protection of individuals under 21 very seriously. Beyond the mandatory age verification process, we recommend the following measures for households where children or young adults under 21 may have access to the same devices used to access gambling platforms:

  • Install parental control software (Net Nanny, Qustodio, or similar) on shared family devices to restrict access to online gambling websites.
  • Use a unique, strong password for your Spribe account that is not stored or visible on shared devices. Never allow family members or friends to access your account on your behalf.
  • Keep any financial cards used for gambling deposits — including your Touch 'n Go eWallet, Boost, or bank debit card — out of reach of minors to prevent unauthorised use.
  • Always log out of your Spribe account when using a shared or family device, rather than relying on the browser to remain logged in between sessions.

Managing Your Financial Wellbeing

Gambling-related financial difficulties affect players in every income bracket — from Kuala Lumpur professionals to casual punters in Johor Bahru or Shah Alam. The financial consequences of problem gambling can escalate quickly. Here are practical steps Spribe recommends for all players:

  • Set a strict monthly gambling budget — an amount you are genuinely comfortable losing entirely — and never deposit beyond it. Use Spribe's monthly deposit limit tool to enforce this automatically.
  • Never use credit, loans, or borrowed money to fund gambling. Gambling with money you do not currently own converts a leisure activity into a potential financial crisis.
  • Track your gambling spending the same way you track other entertainment expenses. If you would not be comfortable disclosing the amount to your partner or a trusted friend, that is a meaningful signal to pause and reassess.
  • If you are already experiencing gambling-related debt, contact AKPK Malaysia's debt counselling service. They offer free, confidential support and practical debt management plans that do not require you to pay upfront fees.
